Polish or ceramic coating: which one should you choose?

By The Clean Cars Wash team · Published on · Updated on

It is not one or the other: polishing corrects the paint, ceramic protects it. If your paint is dull or covered in swirl marks, it must be polished first; if you want it to stay beautiful for a long time, it must then be sealed. In most cases you do both, in that order — which is exactly what our Ceramic Polish Pack contains.

Polishing: correcting

Polishing is mechanical work on the paint. It removes swirl marks and wash marks to bring back the paint's original depth. It does not protect: polished paint left unprotected gets marked again wash after wash.

Ceramic: protecting

Ceramic is a protection applied over the paint. It makes water bead off and makes every following wash easier. It corrects nothing: applied over scratched paint, it seals the scratches as they are. That is why it always comes after the correction.

What if I only want maintenance?

If your paint is in good condition and you mainly want careful maintenance, the Diamond Pack (CHF 320.20 incl. VAT) includes a premium hydrophobic wax, without paint correction. It is maintenance care, not long-term protection.

How long, and where?

The Ceramic Polish Pack immobilises the vehicle for a full day minimum, often more depending on the paint. It is carried out in our workshop in Geneva, or at your place provided you have a closed garage: ceramic tolerates neither dust nor rain while it cures. It is offered from CHF 999.00 incl. VAT, quoted after examining the vehicle.
